The History of Gymnastics Events
The first vaulting tables were very horse-shaped with a head and a neck. Some even had a tail! They were set horizontally for women and vertical for men. The first vaulting styles were similar to training for mounting and dismounting horses. In the 18th century, the table lost its head and neck and became more rounded. Now it doesn’t have a tail!

Uneven bars were at the 1934 World Championships then brought into the 1952 Olympic Games. The uneven bars were first just men’s parallel bars set at different heights. They were later set farther apart.
The floor exercise has been around for as long as gymnastics has been around. Floor routines used to mostly made up of dance and had very few tumbling passes.
The very first balance beams were just a round log raised up off of the ground. In 1921, it was made square with a width of just 3.15 inches. Early beam routines were mostly made up of dance moves.
